Manteo Civil Air Patrol Historical Highway Marker Dedication

Between drafting out dissertation chapters, researching, teaching, and other tasks, this blog has languished as a result.  The jumbling of all my previous posts I can credit to blogger's inability to repost entries in chronological order, and an apparent miscommunication about sourcing documents.

On 21 July 2012, I had the great honor and privilege to dedicate a North Carolina Historical Highway Marker for Civil Air Patrol Coastal Patrol Base No. 16, Manteo.  Approximately 50 people attended the ceremony, including one 98-year old veteran of the base and the families and relatives of at least ten other base personnel.  The Coastland Times reproduced my speech in its entirety, and portions can be heard on this youtube video of the unveiling. Feel free to email if you would like a copy of the speech.

Here are a few of my photos of the event. Enjoy.
