Letter to Governor Terry Sanford Referencing "The Shelter"

This letter, from Mr. William F. Abee to Governor Terry Sanford dated 29 September 1961, is both interesting for Mr. Abee's colorful spelling as it is for the influence of cultural elements (television, literature, film, music) on the though process of the state's citizens and civil defense officials. The element in this particular letter is Rod Serling's "The Shelter."

Also included is Major General Edward F. Griffin's response to the letter sent to Governor Sanford's legal assistant, Mr. Joel Fleishman. Enjoy!

These letters are from the Governor Terry Sanford Collection, General Correspondence 1961, Folder - "Civil Defense Bulletins," Box 27.
