Archival Technology Upgrades

In the past two weeks I've upgraded some of the tools of my research. First, I've added a Canon LiDE 110 scanner to my tool bag. This uses LED indirect light to scan documents or photos. It is extremely gentle on archival documents, very portable, and powers through my laptop. I highly recommend it if you need a simple, no frills, portable scanner.

Just today I purchased a Casio EX-H15 digital camera. My old Kodak (which has taken all the photos featured on the blog) dates back to 2005 and is a bit long in the tooth. It still takes decent photos but is not able to cope with the volume of photos I tend to take in a day at the archives (around 200-800). As of now it will become my dedicated backup camera.

If interested in either item, I've hotlinked the company pages for both products. I can't speak on the camera yet, but the nice lady who sold it to me is working on a history degree as well and understood my questions, so fingers are crossed it performs well!
